Job summary

City of Omaha is seeking an experienced City Planner to develop and administer planning projects, housing and community development programs, and to support the City Master Plan.

The role requires preparing studies, ordinances, and reports, with independence and potential supervision of staff. Must travel across the city and may require relevant certifications within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in city planning or related field.
• Experience in city planning, economic or community development, finance, real estate, environmental consulting, or sustainability.
• Must be able to transport to sites throughout the City.
• HAZWOPER certification within six months if assigned to Housing/Community Development as City Planner-Environmental Planner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct planning research and prepare neighborhood development plans and reports.
• Prepare proposals and required documentation for HUD, EPA, and state agencies.
• Coordinate and supervise planning data analysis, GIS mapping, and project implementation.
