Job summary

The City of Henderson is recruiting for a Senior Court Marshal in the City Attorney's Office. This open and continuous recruitment will create an eligibility list to fill one vacancy and may be used for up to one year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, police science, law enforcement, public or business administration, or closely related field.
  • Eight (8) years of full-time law enforcement and criminal investigations experience for a public agency which included extensive contact with the public.
  • Equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or border state driver’s license (NRS 483).
  • Must possess a current Nevada Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Category II Certificate; Category I preferred.
  • According to NAC 481.040, cannot have certain disqualifying felonies or moral turpitude offenses.
  • Must not have convictions of Domestic Violence, Stalking, Protective Order violations, or Harassment.
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check and a wants/warrants check.
  • Must complete NCIC/ Nevada CJIS certification within six months of hire/transfer and recertify every two years.

Job description

This is an open and continuous recruitment which will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days and close without notice once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created.

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Senior Court Marshal in the City Attorney office. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general direction, plans, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of the investigative staff in the City Attorney's Office; performs advanced and specialized legal investigative work for the prosecution and disposition of both criminal and civil matters; and performs related duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard shift assignments include a four (4) day work week (Monday - Thursday day shifts) and three (3) days off (Friday - Sunday). The Incumbent may also work occasional weekend and evening hours.

Salary placement for non-represented positions is based on a comprehensive compensation review and takes into consideration the candidate's qualifications as well as internal equity.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Must possess a current Nevada Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Category II Certificate at the time of appointment, Category I certificate is preferred
  • According to NAC 481.040: "A person may not be appointed to perform the duties of a peace officer, if he has:"
    • Been convicted of a felony in this state or of any offense which would be a felony, if committed in this state
    • Been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude or the unlawful use, sale, or possession of a controlled substance; or
    • A documented history of physical violence
  • Must not have been convicted of any offense amounting to Domestic Violence, Stalking, Violation of a Protective Order, or Harassment
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
