Job summary

LAC Federal seeks a Senior Library Information Specialist (Chinese Language) to support a federal intelligence information center. This role handles specialized research, acquisitions, metadata development, and information services in a secure environment.

The successful candidate will manage Chinese-language scientific, technical, and political publications, translate or summarize in English, and collaborate with researchers to enhance information discovery and CMS metadata workflows.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Near-native reading/writing Chinese and ability to translate/summarize technical publications in English.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Proficiency with commercial/open-source research databases and web/search tools.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced Chinese-language research using databases and CAI/PAI resources.
• Identify, evaluate, and acquire Chinese-language books, journals, and digital resources.
• Monitor emerging publications relevant to customer organizations and notify accordingly.
• Maintain relationships with publishers, vendors, and information providers worldwide.
• Provide research assistance and respond to RFIs involving scientific and technical info.
• Create and maintain descriptive metadata with translations/transliterations for CMS.
• Assist with cataloging foreign-language materials and brief bibliographic records.
• Support electronic resources administration with subscriptions and usage data.
• Prepare summaries/reports documenting research activities and support provided.
• Collaborate with language specialists and staff to improve workflows.
• Ensure compliance with government security requirements and licensing.
