Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking experienced HVAC Journeymen Technicians to join our service team in the Houston and San Antonio markets. You will diagnose, repair, and optimize large commercial and industrial HVAC systems with a safety-first approach.

The role involves complex diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and mentoring apprentices, with a focus on system performance and customer communication.

Qualifications

• Active Texas HVAC Journeyman license is required.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience with heavy chiller exposure.
• Experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting across low/high voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers (air- and water-cooled): centrifugal, screw, scroll.
• Commission and start up chiller and controls systems for peak efficiency.
• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls issues.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Maintain accurate documentation of service work, repairs, and recommendations.
• Communicate system conditions and next steps clearly to customers.
• Follow safety, EPA standards, and company policies.
