Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a Salaried Chemist and QA Officer to oversee laboratory operations within Department 342. The role involves planning, coordinating with EB departments, suppliers, and customers to ensure data quality and regulatory compliance.

You will support multiple lab functions, develop and maintain QA systems, and assist with audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement while working with technicians and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Marine Science, or equivalent scientific field.
• 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience with laboratory QA programs preferred.
• Experience within Electric Boat Shipyard preferred.
• Familiarity with GC-MS, HPLC, IC, GC-TCD.

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs
• Review analytical data for accuracy, completeness and compliance
• Assist with SOP development, revisions, and document control
• Support internal and external audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts
• Maintain laboratory records, calibration documentation, and QA tracking systems
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical issues
• Coordinate sample receipt, tracking and reporting
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and quality requirements
• Interface with internal customers to support operational and technical needs
