Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking an experienced Chemist to support laboratory QA and quality control within the Laboratory Services section of Department 342 at the Groton shipyard. You will coordinate data quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide chemistry support across multiple laboratory functions for submarine construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field and at least 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience with QA programs and laboratory quality systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs
• Review analytical data for accuracy, completeness and compliance
• Assist with SOP development, revisions, and document control
• Support internal and external audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts
• Maintain laboratory records, calibration documentation, and QA tracking systems
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical issues
• Coordinate sample receipt, tracking and reporting
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
• Interface with internal customers to support operational and technical needs
• Chemical instrumentation and techniques including chromatography and spectrometry
• Reading and interpreting technical documents
• QA/QC systems and documentation
