Job summary

Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Senior Chemist to partner with Design and Product Development to deliver chemical features for new products.

You will independently manage complex development from concept through production, balancing performance, aesthetics, cost, manufacturability, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate across Design, Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and suppliers to translate creative objectives into viable, scalable solutions and lead

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related physical science.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in chemistry, formulation, or consumer product development.
• Strong knowledge of chemistry principles, formulation practices, materials and interactions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Design and Product Development early in concept development to identify chemical and material solutions.
• Independently develop, formulate, evaluate, and optimize chemical features for performance, aesthetics, cost, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate tradeoffs and recommend chemical technologies and material solutions to cross-functional partners.
• Lead chemical-feature development from concept through production with defined requirements, testing, milestones, and risks.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of formulation, processing, and production issues.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners for materials qualification and tech transfer.
• Develop and maintain formula specifications, Bills of Substance, and documentation for global execution.
• Partner with Quality and Regulatory to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize to meet milestones.
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members and evaluate new technologies.
