Job summary

TPM Laboratories, Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Senior Analytical Chemist to generate and approve defensible analytical data for pharmaceutical and chemical clients in a cGMP environment. This role provides expert technical judgment, keeps projects moving, and ensures data integrity.

You will lead method development, review results, and mentor junior analysts while supporting client discussions and audits to uphold quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry (or related) with 4+ years in pharma/biotech/analytical labs.
• Strong HPLC experience; solid understanding of USP/EP and 21 CFR 210/211.
• Excellent documentation, organization, and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Execute and oversee HPLC/UPLC/GC, LC-MS, UV, IR/FTIR, dissolution, and wet chemistry testing.
• Review chromatograms, calculations, and reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Lead OOS/OOT investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls.
• Drive method development, transfer, verification, qualification, and validation (FDA/ICH).
• Troubleshoot methods/instruments; support audits and client technical discussions.
• Mentor junior analysts and improve lab efficiency.

What You’ll Own

Your Typical Day

You start by checking instrument status and the day's priorities, then move between the bench and the data system as samples come in. You'll spend focused time interpreting chromatograms, confirming calculations, and documenting work to ALCOA+ expectations. When unexpected results appear, you shift into investigation mode- pulling history, comparing trends, and aligning next steps with QA and the client. Between runs, you answer technical questions from analysts, give quick coaching, and keep projects on schedule. Late day often includes drafting or tightening SOPs, reviewing method documents, and preparing for upcoming stability pulls or audit requests.

Salary: $65000 - $85000 per year
