Job summary

The Richmond Group USA is seeking a Chemical Engineer for the Greater Charleston area to drive scale-up from development to full-scale manufacturing and to optimize processes. You will join a collaborative team focused on manufacturing excellence and materials science.

You will lead projects to increase yield and throughput, troubleshoot complex production issues, and apply Lean and Six Sigma methods to reduce variability and improve product quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in chemical process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to scale formulations from lab to commercial manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and structured root cause analysis.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of process engineering, manufacturing, and materials science alongside a collaborative technical team.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Optimize manufacturing processes involving mixing, compounding, coating, curing, and other chemical processing operations
• Lead process improvements that increase yield, throughput, and product consistency
• Scale new formulations from the laboratory into commercial manufacturing
• Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and quality issues using structured problem-solving methods
• Partner closely with chemists, operations, quality, and manufacturing engineering
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives that have a measurable impact on plant performance

We're interested in engineers with experience in:

• Chemical process engineering within a manufacturing environment
• Process scale-up, validation, and commercialization
• Continuous improvement and root cause analysis
• Batch or continuous chemical processing
• Elastomers, polymers, specialty chemicals, coatings, or similar materials manufacturing
