Job summary

Oregon Episcopal School in Portland seeks a Head Chaplain to lead the chaplaincy program across PK-12, preaching, teaching religious studies, and providing pastoral care to students and families.

The role coordinates worship, supports equity and inclusion initiatives, and works with the Head of School and division leaders to shape spiritual life and Episcopal identity within the school community.

Qualifications

• Active as an ordained Episcopal priest, ordained deacon, or in the ordination process.
• Experience in Episcopal schools as chaplain or in a similar ministry setting.
• Digital literacy with MS Office and Google Docs/Sheets.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Strong intercultural competence and commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to handle confidential information.
• Organizational skills and ability to work well in teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sacramental, pastoral, and educational ministry of the chaplaincy.
• Preach, lead liturgy, and teach religious studies in the Upper School.
• Provide pastoral care to students, families, employees, and alumni.
• Advise student groups and coordinate relationships with external organizations.
• Collaborate with division chaplains to promote Episcopal identity and spiritual life.
• Participate in Administrative Team and in school-wide equity initiatives.
• Support strategic DEIA initiatives and cross-divisional programming.
