Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies seeks an experienced Senior Liability Adjuster to handle large, complex commercial liability claims, primarily focused on California exposures. You will analyze coverage, manage litigation partnerships, and ensure timely claim resolutions with support from a Major Case Unit.

The role requires 10+ years in CGL/BOP claims, a Bachelor’s degree, and preferably a JD or attorney license. Hybrid schedule and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD or attorney license preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience adjusting CGL and BOP liability claims.
• Experience handling catastrophic California claims, including litigation.
• Ability to interpret coverage and analyze contracts to identify risk transfer opportunities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel for hearings, mediations, trials, and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Handle large, catastrophic CGL/BOP claims, with a focus on California losses.
• Analyze policies, contracts, coverage issues, and risk transfer opportunities.
• Investigate claims, evaluate liability, and determine coverage applicability.
• Partner with panel counsel to manage litigation strategy and resolutions.
• Review evidence, expert reports, and medical documentation; maintain reserves.

Education

Bachelor’s degree

Juris Doctor (JD) or attorney license preferred
