Job summary

Blendon Township in Westerville, OH is seeking a Transit Driver to transport Senior Center members to scheduled activities. You will operate township vehicles, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure the safety and comfort of seniors during travel.

The role requires a High School diploma, 18+ eligibility, and a valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement. You’ll work under the Senior Center Director and assist with setup duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Transport Senior Center members to and from activities according to schedule.

• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Assist with boarding/disembarking and secure mobility devices.
• Enforce all passenger safety guidelines.
• Assist with setup and takedown of tables and related duties as needed.

Overview:

This role reports directly to the Senior Center Director and involves transporting Senior Center members to various scheduled activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transports members to and from destinations related to program activities, events, and meetings within the established timeframes and schedules.
• Treats seniors with respect and dignity.
• Regulates heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment provided on the bus for the comfort of the members.
• Operates township vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner.
• Performs pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Assists in the boarding and disembarking of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and properly secures wheelchairs.
• Enforces safety guidelines for passengers.
• Other duties include assisting with setting up and taking down tables and other related duties as assigned by the Senior Center Director.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States of America.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ohio Commercial Class B Driver's License with a passenger endorsement.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members.
