Job summary

The City of Brawley is seeking a Senior Center Coordinator to plan, organize, implement, and supervise recreation programs for senior citizens, including social events, arts and crafts, and educational activities. You will work under the Recreation Coordinator to ensure engaging, safe, and inclusive programming.

The role requires coordinating facility use, managing outreach and publicity, and building partnerships with aging services.

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the Senior Center Coordinator plans, organizes, implements, and supervises recreation programs for senior citizen programs such as senior program social recreation activities, arts and crafts and educational programs as well as general programs including seasonal sports and special events.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

• Schedule and supervise year round senior citizen recreational programs. Work in cooperation with the Recreation Coordinator in implementing adult activities
• Manages public relations for all programs; develops program publicity, brochures, flyers, newsletters and news releases
• Provides information and make appropriate referrals to older adults needing assistance
• Interacts in a professional and respectful manner with city staff and the public
• Supervise recreational programs and activities
• Coordinates facility use with the Area Agency on Aging

OTHER DUTIES:

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of senior citizen programming-philosophies, principles and practices
