Gourmet Dining & Chartwells Higher Education is hiring a full-time Catering Senior Captain at Kean University, Union, NJ. The role oversees the Catering Department, preps and serves food at functions, and may drive a delivery truck. Monday–Friday schedule; hours vary.

A driver’s license and food handler/alcohol permits may be required by state law. Salary ranges from $22.00 to $25.00 per hour with internal employee referral bonuses.

Qualifications

• 3 years of prior event planning experience in food service is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Catering Department employees and assists in performance appraisals.
• Determines workload from catering orders and coordinates setup with function group leaders.
• Assembles, delivers, and returns food and supplies to catering functions.
• Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
