Job summary

Staples is seeking an Associate Manager, Category Development in Framingham, MA to turn insights into actionable product and portfolio recommendations. You will partner across Merchandising, Finance, Product Development, Marketing, and Sourcing to build business cases and identify opportunities that drive growth and profitability.

You will analyze customer needs, market trends, and competitive gaps, translate insights into recommendations, and support planning discussions with leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, Analytics, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of category management, merchandising, product management, strategy, or analytics experience.
• Experience developing business cases and financial analyses.
• Experience analyzing data to support business decisions and presenting findings.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate assortment performance, demand, profitability, and portfolio productivity to identify growth opportunities.
• Develop business cases for new products and portfolio opportunities, including financial impact and risks.
• Translate customer and market insights into clear recommendations and action plans.
• Create product briefs, requirements, positioning, and value propositions to guide development.
• Present recommendations to Merchandising leadership and support category reviews.
• Refine forecasts and advance initiatives with cross-functional teams.
• Independently manage multiple analyses and projects, resolving issues.
• Lead smaller category initiatives and mentor junior team members.
