Plymouth Rock Assurance in Mount Laurel, NJ, is seeking a Senior Casualty Claim Representative to manage First- and Third-Party Bodily Injury and Physical Damage claims in a Personal Lines/Commercial setting. The role emphasizes coverage analysis, investigations, and negotiating with claimants and attorneys.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years in Bodily Injury or casualty claims, with preferred litigation experience and out-of-state licenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; four-year accreditation.
• 3-5 years’ experience handling liability or PIP claims.
• 4+ years handling bodily injury or casualty claims.
• Some litigation experience; knowledge of NJ court system preferred.
• Knowledge of PA/CT/NY claims handling advantageous.
• Out-of-state license(s) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiate prompt contact with insureds/claimants/witnesses on new claims to conduct coverage and liability investigations.
• Analyze policies to assess coverage; provide advice on excess and primary coverage.
• Conduct investigations and interviews while maintaining file discipline.
• Coordinate outside vendors to determine necessary investigations and direct work.
• Establish and adjust reserves as claims develop; monitor reserves.
• Identify red flags and potential fraudulent claims; refer to SIU as needed.
• Handle complex claims including coverage issues, UM/UIM, and subrogation; prior litigation experience.
• Recognize subrogation potential and pursue recovery.
• Negotiate with injured parties or attorneys on 1st and 3rd party claims.
• Attend litigation proceedings and participate in arbitrations/depositions/mediations.
• Participate in training and internal/external activities; support team objectives.
• Demonstrate strong organization, time management, and use of claims systems.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university

3 - 5 years’ experience handling liability and/or Personal Injury Protection claims

4+ years of experience handling bodily injury or casualty claims

Some litigation experience and knowledge of the New Jersey court system

Knowledge of PA, CT or NY claims handling

Out-of-state licenses preferred
