Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer in the Casting organization to design and industrialize tooling for high‑volume production of propulsion components. You will work across design, manufacturing, simulation, suppliers, and plant operations from concept through launch and production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years in tooling design, casting engineering, or related automotive/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (NX, Teamcenter, AutoCAD) and engineering drawings/GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tooling concepts, 3D models, and drawings for casting tools, fixtures, coreboxes, and related equipment.
  • Create and maintain electronic math data for casting product and process development.
  • Translate requirements into safe, manufacturable tooling designs meeting GM standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, plant teams, and suppliers from concept through launch.
  • Lead or participate in tooling reviews, feasibility assessments, and design changes.
