Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Refrigeration Engineer (Advanced Development) at our Marietta, OH site. You will design cascade vapor‑compression systems for ultra‑low temperature products and cold storage, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performing, compliant cooling solutions.

You’ll lead system specifications, run reliability tests, and contribute to technology roadmaps while working closely with Product Management, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure a robust

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or related discipline.
• 5+ years hands‑on experience developing vapor‑compression systems for cold storage or HVAC/R products.
• Experience with natural or low GWP refrigerants in designs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cascade vapor‑compression systems for ULT freezers and cold storage.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and controls teams during technology development.
• Develop test plans to validate performance and ensure traceability to requirements.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory and customer requirements (UL, IEC, FDA, CE, CSA, Energy Star).
• Support Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly initiatives.
