Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: Four years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline or diesel-powered motor vehicles or in the inspection of such vehicles for the purpose of ensuring their safe operating condition.

Responsibilities

• Inspect for-hire passenger carrying vehicles to ensure compliance with Maryland and federal safety regulations.
• Inspect carriers' records to evaluate Preventive Maintenance and hours of service of drivers.
• Educate carriers on safety requirements and standards.
• Remain certified by Maryland State Police to perform inspections and participate in joint safety initiatives under MCSAP.
