Job summary

The Bristal Assisted Living is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to help with the preparation, seasoning and cooking of meals for residents and staff, under the guidance of the Director of Food Service or the Sous Chef.

Responsibilities include following recipes, maintaining required health regulations, checking temperatures, garnishing dishes, and thriving in a fast-paced kitchen to provide nutritious, quality meals for seniors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in food handling and preparation, sanitation, and safety standards for institutions/restaurants.
• Culinary or cooking school experience/courses preferred; high school degree required.
• Able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong prioritization and customer service skills; multitasking.
• Must understand English and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Able to follow all rules and sanitary standards set by management.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare food for next meal service, chopping, measuring and mixing ingredients.
• Ensure procedures follow health regulations.
• Check food temperatures prior to meal service.
• Garnish plates before they leave the kitchen area.
