Job summary

Bedford Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, TX seeks a Full Time Cook to prepare and serve meals according to the menu, while following safe handling guidelines to ensure nutritionally appropriate food in a five star facility.

You will review menus, assist with ordering, monitor temperatures, and maintain cleanliness. Experience in large-scale cooking and long-term care is preferred, with opportunities to contribute to quality meal service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation, preferred.
• One year’s work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes; refer to supervisor or dietitian for menu changes.
• Reviews menus, resident census information, production guides and pre-prep sheets to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.
• Prepares food according to safety guidelines per policy and regulations; supports ordering, storage and prep as designated by supervisor.
• Maintains standards for food preparation and quality of service; uses substitutes when required and follows recipes.
• Operates kitchen equipment and prepares items to support timely service and quality.
