Industrial Electric Manufacturing is seeking a Senior Capital Project Manager to lead capital projects from programming through closeout in our Facilities & Workplace department. This role ensures on-time, on-budget delivery with strict safety and code compliance.

The position requires 8+ years of experience in commercial/industrial construction, experience with multi-project portfolios, and strong collaboration across internal teams and external vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience managing multiple capital projects concurrently with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience in industrial/ manufacturing operations and knowledge of production continuity, utility capacity, equipment installation and phased construction.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of capital projects.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle from programming to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain the project execution plan, specs, and documents for capital projects.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure deliverables meet IEM standards.
  • Prepare reports for management and executives on capital project health and performance.

Position Overview

The SeniorCapitalProject Manager reports to the Director,Real Estate and Construction, andis responsible fordeveloping, managing, and administeringcapitalprojects fromearly programmingto completion and close-outfor the Facilities & Workplace (F&W) Department.

This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget whilemaintainingcompliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.In addition, this role will support the Director of Real Estate and Construction inthe developmentof capital governance structure, systems and processes and manage the capital portfolio.

Success in this position requires strong technical acumen, proven project management capabilities, and excellent stakeholder collaboration skills.

This position will be based temporarily in NE San Antonio while our new manufacturing plant is coming online. Our permanent location is approximately 25 minutes away at Brooks, 7515 Inner Circle Dr., San Antonio, 78235. The position is also 100% in-office and does not offer remote work.

Capital Project Management (Primary Job Function):
  • Managethe scope, schedule, budget, and qualityofcapitalprojects
  • Responsible for the whole project lifecycle fromprogramming,planning, design, procurement, construction, integration, commissioning, and closeout
  • Understands the business need for each project and makes on-going decisions based onwhat'sbest for the organization
  • Develop andmaintainthe project execution plan, specs, and documentsforcapitalprojects
  • Work closely with theproject teamsto ensure that all deliverables are compliant withIEM’sstandards
  • Acts as liaison with internal and external stakeholders forcapitalprojects
  • Provide oversight and directives forinternal project team members and external vendors/contractorsthroughout the project
  • Manage coordination and communications with allparties involved, including internal and external stakeholders, other agency departments, consultants, and contractors
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and build consensusand drive decisions and progress
  • Investigate, negotiate, and resolve project issues.Identifythe root cause of problems and presentappropriate solutions
  • RepresentIEM’s F&WDepartmentatprojectmeetingswith internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform the following project management duties; develop the scope of work, prepare and review cost estimates; monitor and produce status reports, schedules, and budgets; monitor work in progress; approve, negotiate, and execute, funding agreements and consultant contracts,authorizingcontract payments per contract.
  • Identifyand resolve project challenges, including resource conflict, delays, budget variances, and emergencies, implementing solutions that minimize impact on project timelines andobjectives.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for Managementand Executivesoncapitalprojects.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify adherence to building codes, safety standards, design specifications, and IEM quality standards
  • Maintainaccuratefacility asset documentation and update design standards and construction specifications
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed on job sites and promote a culture of safety among all project participants
  • Closes out projectsin a timely manner, including collection of as-builts, warranty tracking, O&Mmanualsand final project cost information.
  • Ensuring projectscomply withapplicable laws, codes, regulations, and policies
  • Development of department’s capital governance, best practices, systems,processesand tools
  • Development and management of the capital portfolio(budget planning, portfolio control and management,riskand opportunity trade-off)
  • Development of capitalportfolio strategic roadmap andbusiness proposals
  • Development, implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of departmental policies, guidelines, specifications, and standards associated with the Capital Project Delivery Process
  • Development of capital project cost database and schedule templates for use on future project estimating
  • Development ofmetrics,dashboardsandKPIsto report on portfolio and project health and performance
Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management,Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from conception through completion
  • Experiencemanaging multiplecapitalcompeting projects concurrently with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experiencein managing projects ofvarious sizes, scopedetails,and levels of complexity, from a few hundredthousanddollars tomulti-milliondollars
  • Experience in commercial andindustrialTenant Improvements and ground upconstruction projects
  • Experience working inindustrial/manufacturing operations(industrial electric, automotive, aerospace,automationand control, etc...) and knowledge ofproduction continuity, utility capacity, equipmentinstallationand phased construction
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and safety regulations
  • Proficiencywith project management softwareand Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's licenseandpassportandtheability to travel to project sitesin the United States and outside of the United States on short notice
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certification (Professional Engineer,PMP, CCM, LEED AP, or similar)
  • Experience managing projects with budgets exceeding$10million
  • Experience managing capital programs or portfolio
  • Experienceworking on capital strategic and budget planning
  • Experiencedeveloping capital governance structure,systemand processes
  • Projectand PortfolioManagement– Plans and executes projects within cost, schedule, and quality parameters; effectively manages scope, resources, and stakeholder expectations
  • Technical Problem-Solving– Systematically diagnoses technical issues,identifiesroot causes, and implements effective solutions
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building– Builds strong partnerships across functions and with external partners to achieve shared objectives
  • Strategic Problem-Solving– Develops creative, practical solutions to complex business challenges
  • Communication– Communicates clearly and effectively with diverse audiences usingappropriate methodsand messaging
  • Accountability– Takes ownership of commitments and holds team members accountable for deliverables
Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in both office and active construction environments. Physical requirements include:

  • Frequent site visits requiring walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating construction zones
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Visual acuity for reviewing plans, inspecting work, and assessing site conditions
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels at construction sites
  • Extensivetravel to multiple project sites asrequired
