Job summary

Helion Energy in Everett, WA is seeking a Principal Capacitor Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of high-voltage pulsed-capacitors central to our fusion generators. You will own capacitor architecture from concept through high-volume production, driving energy density, reliability, and cost improvements.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of deep pulsed-power capacitor design and manufacturing experience.
• Expertise in dielectric physics and high-field effects.
• Experience leading capacitor design from concept to high-volume production.
• Proven capability in rapid prototyping and high-energy pulsed-power qualification.
• Ability to drive technical decision-making and architecture standards.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
• Excellent leadership and mentoring of engineers and technicians.
• Excellent communication of complex concepts to teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of capacitor development from requirements to manufacturing.
• Drive development of low-inductance, high-reliability pulsed capacitors.
• Define material specifications, processes, and test methods.
• Provide technical leadership to engineers, technicians, and assemblers.
• Lead failure analysis, lifetime modeling, and thermal analysis.
• Partner with pulsed-power electrical engineers to align with system targets.
• Direct testing and evaluation of capacitors; analyze data for improvements.
• Own long-term capacitor technology strategy and roadmap.
