Job summary

The University of Florida Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI) invites applications for a senior staff bioinformatician within the Biostatistics and Computational Biology Shared Resource (BCB-SR). The role works with cancer researchers from experimental design through analysis and publication, contributing to a broad project portfolio and co-authorship on peer‑reviewed papers.

The successful candidate will analyze high‑throughput sequencing data, develop reproducible pipelines on UF's HiPerGator

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics or closely related field.
• Experience analyzing high-throughput sequencing data.
• Proficiency in R and/or Python; Linux command line.
• Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze high-throughput genomics data (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, methylation assays, ChIP-seq).
• Consult on experimental design and analysis plans.
• Develop reproducible analysis pipelines on UF's HiPerGator cluster using workflows, containers, and version control.
• Integrate multi-omic, clinical, and public data; develop/adapt statistical methods.
• Interpret results and contribute to publications and presentations.
• Maintain organized project docs, code repos, and data management practices.
• Contribute to training and outreach for cancer center members and trainees.
• Stay current with methods and tools and evaluate new approaches.
