What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB’s growing Design Build (DB) Organization! We are seeking candidates for a Design Build Senior CAD Technician, for fast-paced transportation infrastructure projects.

Candidate shall have experience with software including Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D with abilities to create precise and detailed drawings, communicate effectively, and manage their own workload.

This opportunity entails performing non-routine and complex assignments at an advanced proficiency level, involving responsibility for planning and conducting complete projects of varied scope. Assists the project management team in outlining objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Responsible for gathering engineering or operational data from a variety of sources.

What You’ll Do:
  • Verify the accuracy of drawings, ensure compatibility across disciplines, and check detail and quantity calculations. Calculate design data, prepare layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, reports, etc.
  • Assist in preparing engineering studies and evaluations involved in project development from initial concept to design stage, with support from the project engineer/architect.
  • Attend project and pre-construction meetings, providing input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed.
  • Resolve technical design problems, which may include performing field investigations, inspections, detailed design work, and data analysis.
  • Maintain complex project plans and perform general administrative tasks. May develop documentation, prepare project management reports, and monitor progress related to targeted goals.
  • Recommend process improvements for project delivery at the office level.
  • Calculate quantities and perform engineering-related computations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field with 6 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related with 8 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of education, 10 years of relevant experience.
What You'll Bring:
  • Ability to work effectively and develop relationships with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Proficiency in CADD design software such as GIS, 3D, Highway or Railroad design, Building design, and Graphic Imaging.
  • Knowledge of survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to specific engineering sub-types.
What We Prefer:
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer, MicroStation CONNECT, MicroStation V8i, AutoCAD, Civil3D.
