Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Senior CAD Technician with a focus on structural design to join our team. The selected individual will play a crucial role in producing and modifying detail drawings, construction drawings, sketches and diagrams as well as developing CAD standards, standard details, and block libraries necessary to support our Structural Engineering team. Specific drafting areas will include civil infrastructure projects (focusing primarily on telecommunication structures) encompassing a variety of structural elements. This position requires strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and project managers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Use computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D) to create and revise drawings for structural components, including horizontal and vertical bracing components, mechanical/bolted connections, and foundation elements.
2. Collaborate with structural engineers to understand project specifications and translate them into accurate technical drawings.
3. Review and revise designs based on feedback from engineers and project managers.
4. Ensure that all drawings comply with industry standards, building codes, and company policies.
5. Improve efficiency of deliverable development process by evaluating current CAD production and communication processes and modifying procedures as necessary.
6. Develop/update Drafting and Engineering Standards.
7. Attend in-the-field training to relate as-built conditions to structural plans.
8. Set up and maintain an organized file system for production drawings.
9. Research online resources for site-related data assimilation.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

1. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
2. Prior experience with structural/mechanical engineering projects is required.
3. Prior experience in the telecommunications industry is strongly preferred.
4. Current aptitude or ability to develop an understanding of regulatory requirements, building codes and basic structural related design practices is required.
5. Able to read and interpret construction, shop, or design drawings.
6. Possess mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
7. Ability to develop finalized construction drawings from preliminary sketches/drawings with minimal direction.
8. Experience working with and creating dynamic blocks is preferred.
9. Experience developing and maintaining CAD standards preferred.
10. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education: High School diploma and Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Graduation from a drafting program of a recognized technical institute or one to two year(s) of related experience and/or formal training in AutoCAD; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered based on Hiring Manager decision.

Experience: At least four (4) years of CAD work experience in the mechanical/structural/engineering or related field that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed on the job description, preferred.
