Job summary

Axiom Space in Webster, Texas is seeking a Senior Drawing Checker to lead the review and release of engineering drawings and MBD datasets, ensuring ASME Y14 compliance, accurate GD&T, and proper documentation metadata.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in drafting and checking, extensive SolidWorks experience, and a proven ability to mentor designers and engineers. This on-site role supports the Space Station Development Facility in Webster, TX.

Qualifications

• 10+ years creating and checking manufacturing‑ready engineering drawings to ASME Y14 standards.
• 10+ years of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD experience producing models, assemblies, and drawings.
• Technical degree or CAD certification preferred (required if under 15 years of experience).
• Strong command of GD&T application and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings and MBD datasets for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ASME Y14 and internal standards.
• Validate dimensions, GD&T, tolerances, notes, materials, finishes, and revision history for correctness and clarity.
• Ensure 3D models, drawings, and metadata are properly linked and meet configuration management and release requirements.
• Confirm title blocks, part numbers, drawing numbers, units, and document properties align with program standards.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between models and drawings before release.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to clarify requirements and implement corrections.
• Mentor team members on drafting best practices, GD&T, and documentation quality.
• Maintain and improve drawing standards, MBD guidelines, templates, and checking checklists.
