Job summary

Travis Body & Trailer, Inc. in NW Houston is seeking a Senior Drafter to create and revise detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and documentation for trailers and truck bodies.

You will work with Production, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet customer requirements using CAD and DriveWorks. Qualified candidates have extensive AutoCAD/SolidWorks skills, DriveWorks experience, and a track record in heavy manufacturing or related fields.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in drafting/design required.
• 15+ years progressive drafting and design in manufacturing if no degree.
• 10+ years advanced AutoCAD/SolidWorks drafting for manufacturing operations.
• 5+ years advanced DriveWorks experience for design automation.
• Experience in trailer, truck body, transportation equipment, fabrication, or heavy manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed drawings, layouts, and specifications for new and existing products.
• Develop accurate BOMs in line with engineering and manufacturing standards.
• Design custom trailer and body configurations using CAD based on customer requirements.
• Utilize DriveWorks to configure, generate, and manage designs, drawings, and BOMs.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure strength, safety, manufacturability, and quality.
• Process engineering changes, revisions, and product updates with production and quality teams.
• Support full product lifecycle from concept through production and post-release.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing and quality to resolve design challenges.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing to improve fit, form, and function.
• Incorporate DFm concepts and stay current with CAD/DriveWorks technologies.
• Maintain DriveWorks projects and forms to support standardization.
