Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior CAD Designer to join our aerospace hardware team. You will create and modify CAD drawings and models using SolidWorks, ensuring tolerances and documentation meet program requirements and industry standards.

You will work closely with mechanical engineering, manage data in SolidWorks PDM, and support engineering change orders while maintaining accurate drawings and bill of materials. Strong detail-orientation and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or 4 years of additional relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years CAD Drafter experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools; SolidWorks preferred.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, and specs.
• Experience with MS Teams, Confluence and Jira.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The Skylark product line is focused on the rapid design, build, and test ofcutting-edgeactive phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications. Current programs span high-power, large-scale ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of CAD design assignments in support of the mechanical engineering team including the creation of models and/or drawings from CAD, sketches, notes, and other documentation provided by engineering staff. You will ensure that design documentation complies with the program requirements, organizational processes and industry standards, and will prepare accurate drawings with proper tolerances, dimensions, and instructions.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide CAD drawing support (SolidWorks Drawings) throughout the product development process.
• Generate and/or modify product’s models, drawings, and documentation.
• Identify problems or issues in CAD designs and drawings and provide corrective actions.
• Manage and control mechanical digital data files and drawings.
• Prepare and incorporate engineering change orders.
• Input data and manage hardware structures in a Product Data Management tool (SolidWorks PDM).

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar, or, if no degree, 4 years of additional relevant experience is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CAD Drafter.
• Proficiency or expert knowledge in using CAD tools. Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience generating and/or modifying product models, drawings, and documentation.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and product specifications.
• Comfortable with collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Confluence, and Jira.
• Ability to work well under deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills.
• An eye for detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Strong mechanical proficiency and general understanding of manufacturing (CNC, 3D printing, etc.) and mechanical assembly techniques.
• Knowledge of applicable government and industry standards including ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.100 (Engineering Drawing Practices), and its application techniques.
• Previous experience in supporting the design of electronic packages, ground structures, mechanisms, and/or composite structures.
• Aerospace or automotive electronics design experience.

$39.55 - $46.74 a year
