Job summary

CesiumAstro in Westminster, CO is hiring a Senior CAD Designer to support the mechanical engineering team by creating models and drawings from CAD data, ensuring documentation meets program requirements and industry standards. You will prepare accurate drawings with proper tolerances and instructions.

The role emphasizes drafting, data management, and collaboration with engineers to implement design changes while maintaining strict schedules. Prior SolidWorks experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or 4 years of additional relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CAD Drafter.
• Proficiency with CAD tools; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience generating/modifying product models, drawings, and documentation.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and product specifications.
• Comfortable with MS Teams, Confluence, and Jira.
• Ability to work well under deadlines and maintain organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Skylark product line is focused on the rapid design, build, and test ofcutting-edgeactive phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications. Current programs span high-power, large-scale ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of CAD design assignments in support of the mechanical engineering team including the creation of models and/or drawings from CAD, sketches, notes, and other documentation provided by engineering staff. You will ensure that design documentation complies with the program requirements, organizational processes and industry standards, and will prepare accurate drawings with proper tolerances, dimensions, and instructions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar, or, if no degree, 4 years of additional relevant experience is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CAD Drafter.
• Proficiency or expert knowledge in using CAD tools. Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience generating and/or modifying product models, drawings, and documentation.
• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and product specifications.
• Comfortable with collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Confluence, and Jira.
• Ability to work well under deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills.
• An eye for detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Strong mechanical proficiency and general understanding of manufacturing (CNC, 3D printing, etc.) and mechanical assembly techniques.
• Knowledge of applicable government and industry standards including ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.100 (Engineering Drawing Practices), and its application techniques.
• Previous experience in supporting the design of electronic packages, ground structures, mechanisms, and/or composite structures.
• Aerospace or automotive electronics design experience.

$39.55 - $46.74 a year
