Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. seeks a Sr. CAD Designer to join the Transportation and Infrastructure Unit in the Ohio River Valley sector. The role is based in Fishers, Indiana, focusing on challenging bridge and roadway projects and offering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

The successful candidate will lead CAD tasks, supervise staff, and coordinate with engineers while leveraging AutoCad, Bentley, and ORD tools. A strong DOT background and 10+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in CAD design for transportation projects.
  • Experience with Indiana DOT and/or Ohio, Kentucky or West Virginia DOTs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and Bentley software is required.
  • ORD experience is a plus and helpful for bid and design work.
  • Ability to perform calculations for structural geometry, reinforcing bars layout, and quantities.
  • Capable of directing CAD staff and coordinating with junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage tasks to successful completion within time, budget, and quality targets.
  • Provide advisement on scopes, budgets, and schedules; ensure adherence to procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other CAD designers across projects.
  • Mentor and supervise CAD staff and junior engineers on design tasks.

Job description

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a talented Sr. CAD Designer to work within our Transportation and Infrastructure Unit, in the Ohio River Valley sector. The successful candidate will work out of our Fishers, Indiana office and enjoy working on challenging bridge and roadway projects. The team-oriented environment will allow them to develop professionally and grow in today's global environment.

Requirements
  • Experience working for Indiana DOT and/or Ohio, Kentucky or West Virginia DOTs
  • Experienced in AutoCad and Bentley projects required
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) a plus
  • Can perform calculations for structural geometry, reinforcing bars layout, and quantities
  • Capable of working with Junior Engineers and directing additional CAD Staff
General Characteristics
  • Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments; serves as a Task Manager for small to midsize projects; serves as the technical specialist in the field of expertise; up to speed on industry standards and Company policies and procedures.

  • Routinely works with various departments within the company and effectively communicates with engineers, managers, and other CAD designers.
