Job summary

Turing is seeking a Mechanical Design & Analysis Domain Lead (CAD/CAE Expert) based in San Francisco or remote to design datasets that advance AI model training for real-world mechanical engineering workflows.

Based in San Francisco, CA, you will convert challenges into test scenarios, design validation rules, and lead QA/QC workflows while coordinating internal and external engineering teams. 15+ years of industry experience in automotive, aerospace, or precision engineering is required.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of industry track record delivering hardware in automotive/aerospace or precision engineering environments.
• End-to-end mechanical lifecycle expertise: 3D CAD, DFM/DFA, GD&T, FEA/CFD, prototype testing and failure analysis (FMEA).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Convert real-world mechanical challenges into structured test scenarios with inputs, requirements, constraints, and verified reference solutions.
• Design scoring rubrics and programmatic validation rules for automated task verification by software engineers.
• Assess behavior of state-of-the-art AI agents to diagnose and analyze failure modes.
• Design and manage automated and human-in-the-loop QA/QC workflows to ensure dataset quality.
• Recruit and coordinate teams of internal and external engineers to build and scale training and evaluation datasets.
