Job summary

VTG is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (Associate)-Cable Engineer to support our customer. The role requires technical leadership on complex cable systems projects, including splicing, testing, and fabrication tasks, with potential travel up to 75%.

The candidate should have a BA/BS in a technical discipline, at least 5 years of experience, and hold a Secret clearance (Top Secret eligibility). Position contingent upon contract award with pay range discussed.

Qualifications

• Must have a BA/BS in a technical discipline with at least 5 years of experience.
• Must have and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Eligible for a Top Secret.
• Willing to travel 75% or more.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert support, analysis and research into complex problems and processes related to the subject matter.
• Serve as technical expert on high-level project teams providing direction and alternatives.
• Communicate clearly in writing and speaking with excellence.
• Apply technical principles, theories and concepts in the field to deliver solutions.
• Develop approaches to solutions independently under general direction.
• Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects.
• Splice overhead, underground, or submarine cables used in telephone and power transmission systems.
• Tests and identifies conductors to prevent incorrect connections.
• Repair and assemble cable components and joints as required.
• Work may involve climbing poles or towers and working in challenging environments.
