Job summary

WoodJobs.com is seeking an experienced Cabinet CAD Engineer to translate concepts and client specifications into production-ready layouts, drawings, and manufacturing data. The role spans design, space planning, fabrication, and installation, with site verifications as needed.

You will work closely with clients, project managers, designers, and shop personnel to ensure accuracy, code compliance, and efficient material usage, leveraging CAD drafting and a deep knowledge of cabinet construction.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD drafting and cabinet design software.
• Minimum of 5 years of cabinet design, layout, or drafting experience.
• Ability to take accurate field measurements and account for irregular walls and site constraints.
• Knowledge of cabinet construction methods, joinery, materials, finishes, and hardware.
• Strong communication skills across design, management, production, and installation teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, specifications, and project documentation.
• Revise designs based on client feedback, field measurements, and architectural changes.
• Communicate design changes and technical requirements clearly to stakeholders.
• Conduct jobsite measurements to verify dimensions, wall conditions, openings, and utility locations.
• Generate accurate BOMs, cut lists, hardware schedules, and production documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with building codes, accessibility, and industry standards.
• Update production drawings to reflect approved revisions and site conditions.
• Review drawings and production data for completeness and accuracy before release to manufacturing.
• Identify potential design, material, and installation issues to protect schedules and costs.
• Prepare detailed shop drawings including plan views, elevations, and installation details.
• Develop CNC-ready machining data and nesting layouts to optimize material use.
• Create functional designs that maximize storage, accessibility, and space utilization.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, hardware locations, door swings, and clearances.
