Job summary

VTG in Fort Meade, MD, seeks a Senior Software Test Development Engineer to join a mission-focused team. You will design, implement, and validate software in C++, build automated tests, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines in a defense environment.

Responsibilities include test automation, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and collaboration with systems and hardware engineers to ensure robust software for national security systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong software development experience with C++.
• Experience using Python and Shell scripting.
• Experience developing and executing software test procedures.
• Experience creating automated tests and supporting continuous testing.
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery processes.
• Familiarity with software-defined radios, servers, and hardware in test environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain software systems using C++.
• Use Python and Shell scripting to support development, testing, and automation.
• Debug software, identify root causes, and fix defects.
• Develop and maintain scalable mission systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and maintain Docker containers, Kubernetes pods/clusters.
• Develop and execute automated tests for software components.
• Support testing in environments with SDRs, servers, and test infrastructure.
• Modernize build and test processes; improve testing capabilities.
• Generate automation scripts to streamline development, build, test, and deployment workflows.
