Job summary

VT Group (VTG) seeks a Senior Software Test Development Engineer (C++ focused) in Fort Meade, MD to support a mission-focused customer across full life cycle from design to sustainment.

You will develop automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and leverage Docker/Kubernetes in a hardware-in-the-loop environment with software-defined radios and servers.

Candidates must be US Citizens with TS/SCI + poly; strong C++, Python, and shell scripting skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with TS/SCI with Poly is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Experience as a Software Test Development Engineer.
• Strong C++ software development experience.
• Experience with Python and Shell scripting.
• Experience developing and executing software test procedures.
• Experience creating automated software tests and supporting continuous testing.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and modernizing build/test processes.
• Familiarity with software-defined radios, servers, and hardware used in test infra.
• Experience debugging and correcting software defects.
• Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes environments.
• Experience collaborating with systems and hardware engineers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specs.
• Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain software using C++.
• Support software development with Python and Shell scripting.
• Debug software to identify root causes and fix defects.
• Develop scalable mission systems using modern design principles.
• Create and maintain Docker containers, Kubernetes pods, and clusters.
• Develop and execute test procedures for software components.
• Design automated tests to enable continuous testing.
• Support testing in environments with SDRs, servers, and test hardware.
• Modernize build processes and automate testing capabilities.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines.
• Generate automation scripts to improve workflows.
• Use analysis and models to predict software performance.
• Collaborate with systems/hardware engineers on requirements and interfaces.
• Troubleshoot issues across software, hardware, build, and test environments.
• Recommend improvements to docs, tests, and engineering standards.
