Job description

BASELoad helps healthcare payers reduce costs and improve processes through intelligent data services, tools, and programs that enhance the accuracy of provider data. We specialize in EDI adjudication, 1099 filings, and market data analytics — all built on a foundation of service, data, and process improvement.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior C# Developer / Data Engineer to take ownership of key development and data platform initiatives for our flagship application, SureHit Now. This is a hands-on role that blends full-stack application development with strong data engineering responsibilities.

You will design efficient systems, build and optimize data pipelines, administer and tune SQL Server environments, and deliver robust, scalable solutions that power high-volume healthcare data processing.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact in the healthcare industry — helping payers and providers reduce waste, improve accuracy, and ensure fair, timely payments.

This role will be focused on stabilizing and optimizing older, legacy data infrastructure while simultaneously building modern, greenfield data platforms from scratch.

What You'll Do
Application Development
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance C# /.NET applications supporting healthcare data operations and the SureHit Now platform.
  • Build resilient, scalable, and performant systems following SDLC and release management best practices.
  • Work with Entity Framework, WPF/XAML/MVVM, XML, and Web APIs to deliver maintainable, responsive applications.
  • Apply SOLID principles, Dependency Injection, and separation of concerns to produce clean, testable code.
  • Contribute to reusable frameworks and shared libraries that improve productivity and consistency across applications.
  • Participate in structured code reviews and maintain high standards using Git-based version control.
  • Design, implement, and optimize ETL processes to extract, transform, and load healthcare data at scale.
  • Own SQL Server administration responsibilities including instance upgrades, monitoring, performance tuning, and backup strategy.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query tuning, schema refinement, and execution plan analysis.
  • Develop and maintain robust T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and data quality processes.
  • Ensure data integrity, reliability, and recoverability across production environments.
  • Design and implement APIs following OpenAPI specifications and modern REST/SOAP practices.
  • Build and support event-driven architectures, message queues, and asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Collaborate on microservices and distributed systems design where appropriate.
  • Partner with leadership on requirements, timelines, integration strategies, and technical design decisions.
  • Contribute to cloud migration initiatives and cloud-native solution design.
  • Support Infrastructure as Code practices using tools such as Terraform.
  • Apply DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • 5-8+ years of professional experience in C# /.NET development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with relational database design, T-SQL, query optimization, and SQL Server performance tuning.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex systems using .NET, C#, SQL, and Web APIs.
  • Solid understanding of ETL patterns and data pipeline development.
  • Experience with Entity Framework and modern data access patterns.
  • Familiarity with API design (including OpenAPI), microservices concepts, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with message queues, event-driven architecture, or asynchronous processing.
  • Proficiency with Git-based version control and structured code review practices.
  • Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in debugging, optimization, and production support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience
  • SQL Server administration experience (upgrades, monitoring, backup/recovery strategies, scripting).
  • Domain-Driven Design (DDD) or microservices architecture.
  • WPF / XAML / MVVM experience for desktop or rich client applications.
  • Cloud migration experience and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).
  • Kanban or Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Healthcare data domain knowledge, including 837 claim formats or EDI.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance and secure development practices.
Core Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — both technical and non-technical
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ownership mentality with a focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborative approach to working with engineering, product, and operations
  • High cognitive agility. You will be asked to switch mindsets rapidly.
