Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Software Engineer with strong modern C++ expertise and hands-on Linux development experience. You will design, implement, test, and release high-performance systems in collaboration with QA and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include designing backend components, building tooling with Python and shell scripts, debugging Linux apps, and participating in architecture decisions. Dallas-based role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field; 2 years of software engineering experience required.
• Option 2: 4 years of software engineering experience required.
• Master’s degree in CS preferred for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend/system-level components using modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20).
• Write clean, modular, testable code with maintainability and performance in mind.
• Build and improve development tooling and automation using shell scripting and Python.
• Debug, profile, and optimize Linux applications for stability and efficiency.
• Participate in architecture/design discussions, code reviews, and release planning.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement durable fixes.
• Collaborate with QA and third-party teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and documentation.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
