Job summary

Old Mission is hiring a Software Engineer for its Research Infrastructure team in Chicago. You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines, datasets, and libraries powering research across multi-asset classes, with a focus on scalable infrastructure and high-throughput processing.

You will collaborate to re-architect APIs, advance data storage, and integrate C++ and Python tooling. Candidates should have strong C++, Linux experience, and a passion for building robust data platforms.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in systems/platform/data engineering or similar roles.
• Experience with Linux APIs (filesystems, networking, processes management).
• Ability to design, build and maintain data pipelines and data infrastructure.
• Mentorship or leadership experience on technical projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data infrastructure.
• Capture, archive, store, and index data for the firm.
• Develop big data tooling to support cluster computing and high-throughput tasks.
• Re-architect APIs to improve scalability and performance.
• Collaborate in releases, debugging and maintenance of systems.
• Upgrade data storage capacity as needed.
• Apply research and data-driven approaches to solve tough problems.
