Job summary

Afton Scientific is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer Planner to join our Supply Chain team in Virginia. This role leads procurement, planning, and management of raw materials and packaging for manufacturing operations and projects.

You will manage supplier relationships, forecast demand, optimize inventory, and mitigate supply risks. Strong ERP and Excel skills, plus negotiation abilities, are essential to drive cost efficiency and supply continuity.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree; or 5+ years in purchasing, material planning, and/or vendor management.
• Experience in inventory management.
• Experience procuring materials; SAP/ERP proficiency.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Obtain quotes and procure materials for manufacturing and project needs.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor delivery performance.
• Maintain open POs and critical material orders; monitor MRP data.
• Coordinate material availability to support production schedules; minimize shortages and excess.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Support supplier qualification, audits, and regulatory documentation.
