Senior Buyer — Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain

Job summary

Chart, Inc. is seeking a Buyer responsible for managing the procurement process to obtain materials and services needed for production.

The role requires developing sourcing strategies, evaluating suppliers, and issuing purchase orders while coordinating with cross-functional teams in Stafford, TX. You will monitor supplier performance, negotiate pricing and terms, and drive continuous improvement in the supply chain.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
• Experience buying metal, machined parts, fabrications, and coordinating outside services such as machining, plating, inspection.
• Experience sourcing direct and indirect materials and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of procurement principles, inventory management, and supplier management.
• Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, delivery terms, and supplier agreements.
• Blueprint reading basic understanding.
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems and documentation.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Epicor/JD Edwards or similar.
• Ability to analyze purchasing data, market trends, supplier performance, and inventory needs.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for direct and indirect materials to support production goals.
• Research, evaluate, and source materials, components, equipment, and services from qualified suppliers.
• Purchase metal, machined parts, fabrications, and outside services such as machining, plating, inspection.
• Prepare and execute purchase orders, blanket orders, and RFQs.
• Partner with Category Managers to generate RFQs for assigned category families.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and terms based on cost and quality considerations.
• Identify and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor supplier performance and expedite orders to minimize production disruption.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, Inventory Control, and Operations teams.
• Review inventory levels and planning requirements to ensure material availability.
