Sumitomo Biorational Company in Libertyville, IL is seeking a Sr. Buyer/Planner to manage purchasing, planning, and sourcing for manufacturing operations.

You will ensure a cost-effective supply of raw materials and services while maintaining supplier quality and performance, and support DRP forecasting and ERP/SAP data management. The role emphasizes development of procurement strategies, contract negotiation, and cross-functional coordination to optimize inventory and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of proven hands-on experience in procurement or supply planning.
• Negotiation, supplier management, and cost optimization experience.
• Strong communication, problem solving, and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills.
• Experience with policy enforcement, compliance, and strategic procurement operations.
• Experience managing system parameters, building data reports, and ISO 9000 procedures.
• Background in material planning, toller management, and DRP is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Understand SAP operations, part numbers, ingredients, and quality control qualifications.
• Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies for cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply assurance.
• Source, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts with favorable terms and compliance.
• Oversee timely delivery of goods and optimize flow for production.
• Manage purchase orders from requisition through delivery and payment.
• Establish, review, and maintain ERP/SAP procurement parameters and data accuracy.
• Design and manage procurement reports to track spend and supplier KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ethics, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with production and planning to forecast material requirements.
• Manage toller paperwork and inbound processes for raw materials and FG.
• Execute Production Master Scheduling for MA business.
• Coordinate bonded warehouse operations and bulk shipments to guarantee availability.
• Improve supply chain visibility and efficiency; drive DRP strategies with STO movements across DCs.
• Act as CoE focal point to harmonize planning processes and standardize procedures.
