Restaurant Depot is a leading, members-only wholesale supplier serving independent foodservice businesses. The Senior Buyer role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and managing large product categories to drive sales, margin, and inventory health.

Reporting to Purchasing leaders, you will manage vendor partnerships, category strategy, cost controls, and product availability while upholding quality. The position involves office-based work with regular warehouse visits and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain preferred.
• 5+ years of buying / restaurant experience, preferably in food wholesale, grocery, or distribution
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute category plans to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turn goals.
• Analyze sales trends, market conditions, and competitive pricing.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement.
• Manage open-to-buy and inventory levels to minimize shrink and aged inventory.
• Source and qualify new vendors to support growth initiatives.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, rebates, freight, and promotional allowances.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure service levels and continuity of supply.
• Resolve vendor performance issues related to fill rates, quality, and compliance.
• Monitor commodity markets and industry trends.
• Identify new product opportunities aligned with customer demand.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory and food safety requirement.
• Monitor product availability and proactively address shortages.
• Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to support cross-dock and distribution efficiency.
• Manage seasonal buys and promotional forecasts.
• Oversee freshness standards and rotation policies for perishable categories.
• Partner with operations to address receiving, quality, and shrink concerns.
• Work with marketing on promotional planning and execution.
• Communicate product changes, cost updates, and supply disruptions with operations.
