Job Title: Senior Buyer
Job Description
- Demand Analysis and Trend Interpretation: Analyze customer demand and interpret market trends to initiate strategic changes that optimize manufacturing, planning, and forecasting systems.
- Cross-Department Liaison: Serve as a key liaison between Customer Operations and internal operational departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Collaboration with Materials Management: Work closely with the Materials Manager on product forecasts and Master Production Schedules to optimize material flow and inventory plans, enhancing turnover while minimizing investment and obsolescence risk.
- RFQ and Contract Management: Lead RFQ activities, negotiate agreements, and obtain necessary legal and management approvals, ensuring effective implementation of supplier contracts.
- Strategic Procurement: Procure materials from approved suppliers in alignment with the master production schedule, ensuring the lowest total cost while meeting quality, regulatory, and governmental standards.
- Cost Savings Initiatives: Identify and spearhead cost-saving projects and opportunities, documenting support and tracking validation processes.
- Support Business Development: Assist in new business development and proposal efforts by providing source selection and collaborating on product/material selection, managing quote activities to ensure competitiveness while meeting customer deadlines.
- Supplier Strategy Development: Identify and implement strategies to foster strong relationships with the approved supply base, maintaining full oversight of the Approved Supplier List (ASL).

- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience in supply chain management—preferably in a just-in-time or lean manufacturing environment, including planning, scheduling, procurement, strategic sourcing, and exposure to commodity management
- Experience with government contracting is a plus
- Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
- Proficiency in SAP or other ERP and MRP systems, Microsoft Office; APICS, CPM or related certifications preferred
