Job summary

The Gill Corporation-Maryland is seeking an experienced Sr. Buyer (Finance) to manage procurement of machinery, materials, and services for efficient operations. Responsibilities include vendor selection, cost negotiation, purchase orders, and cross-department collaboration.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and at least 8 years in manufacturing procurement, with SAP experience preferred and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration or Engineering or equivalent training and years of experience.
• Eight (8) years or more of related procurement experience in a manufacturing and standard cost environment.
• Medium to advanced proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
• Company ERP system experience - SAP Preferred.
• Strong Analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must have English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, write, understand, and communicate the company operating procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Selects, interviews, and analyzes potential vendors to determine factors that affect ability to provide needed parts, materials, and/or services. Determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
• Reviews proposals, negotiates prices and most favorable terms, recommending only those vendors that meet established Company standards.
• Prepares and issues purchase orders, follows up on orders placed, verifies and/or expedites delivery, approves payment, resolves problems with vendors, and maintains all necessary records and documentation.
• Maintains positive vendor relations.
• Interfaces with various other departments such as QC regarding rejected materials, Engineering concerning substitution of materials and/or other indirect departments for supplies required to maintain operations.
• Reviews ERP-material requirements and releases Purchase Requisitions for approval.
• Supports and collaborates with Maryland's procurement personnel.
• Performs special projects.
• Works in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules. Reports any unsafe work conditions to the Safety Manager, supervisor, or management
• Other duties as assigned.
