Job summary

Hyosung HICO, Memphis, TN, seeks a Senior Buyer to procure materials and coordinate purchasing for production. You will obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure delivery, quality, and price commitments.

The role requires strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and proficient use of MS Office and MRP/ERP systems to manage inventory and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or related field.
• 8 to 10 years' experience in purchasing and/or material coordination or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Procures materials or other goods and coordinates purchasing activities for production.
• Obtains quotes and delivery schedules; negotiates terms with suppliers to ensure delivery, quality and price commitments.
• Liaises with vendors and internal teams to achieve cost reductions through design changes and material selection.

Hyosung HICO is seeking to fill a Senior Buyer position. The ideal candidate will procure materials in a timely manner at the best price and quality by establishing, negotiating, and maintaining cost-effective sources of supply through the application of professional purchasing principles and practices.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Procures materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for establishment
• Obtains quotes & delivery schedules and negotiate terms and conditions for material and services required for production. Monitor performance and capabilities of suppliers to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments.
• Serves as liaison between vendors and PTD Design and Quality Engineering to achieve cost reductions through design changes, material selection, and manufacturing
• Communicates with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Analyzes and communicates specifications and market conditions to determine best source for procurement of HICO supplies and parts through domestic or international vendors and suppliers
• Works with manufacturers & vendors to undertake the manufacturing of custom-designed items according to the company’s specific needs and specifications.
• Maintains optimal inventory of domestic and imported production materials, i.e., bill of materials items, small materials, electrical and mechanical parts and components, expense items, fixed assets to support continuous production operations.
• Reads technical diagrams and specifications to aid in development of technical solutions and expedited
• Maintain records of supplier delivery, price, and responsiveness performance. Work with suppliers to drive ongoing improvements to these primary metrics and analyze and report
• Furthers the goals and positive, professional image of the Purchasing Department by conducting business with other HICO departments, suppliers, etc. in a timely and cooperative
• Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate Hyosung HICO policy and/or procedure.
• Know Hyosung HICO’s Quality and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

Education/Special Skills/Experience/Training
