Job summary

Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, WI, is seeking a Senior Buyer in the Purchasing Department to support yard operations with strategic sourcing and timely procurement of materials and services.

You will manage supplier performance, RFQs, purchase orders, expediting, and issue resolution, partnering with Engineering, Production, and Finance to maintain schedule integrity. Domestic travel may be required; ERP system knowledge is expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and participate in economical procurement methods, value analysis programs, etc.
• Create purchase orders to meet in yard dates, manage supplier performance, and enter and maintain pricing, supplier database, orders in the ERP system
• Communicate with Engineering, Production, Finance, Warehousing and Purchasing on material specifications, expediting, invoice reconciliations, receiving/inventory discrepancies, RFQ's, supplier performance and receiving discrepancies
• Execute and expedite the procurement of goods and services, developing cost savings plans and administering progress payment process
• Other duties as assigned

Position Summary

The Senior Buyer is responsible for contributing to the competitive status and profitable operation of the company through creative sourcing and procuring of materials and services in a timely manner and at an optimum value. This role will act as the primary contact between suppliers and internal customers; managing supplier performance, flow of material to yard, request for quotes, purchase order placement, expedite deliveries and correct receipt discrepancies; promptly communicating any material shortages, late deliveries or non-conformances; spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule; and understanding and maintaining the ERP system to provide accurate information to all departments.

Domestic travel may be required.
