Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment seeks an experienced Senior Buyer for CAPEX and strategic procurement in an industrial setting. You will own supplier relationships, lead high-value RFPs, and shape contract strategy across cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Maintenance and QHSE.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a Buyer in maintenance, engineering or industrial operations.
• Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation experience with complex RFQs/RFPs.
• Experience with Coupa P2P and SAP; knowledge of procurement processes and cost estimation.

Senior Buyer - CAPEX & Strategic Procurement (Industrial)

Are you an experienced Buyer ready to take ownership of strategic procurement, supplier relationships and high-value projects within a safety-driven industrial environment?

Do you have strong experience across CAPEX procurement, complex sourcing, commercial negotiation and contract management, with the ability to work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and QHSE?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading U.S. chemical operator as a Buyer III, taking a senior role across strategic sourcing, CAPEX procurement, supplier management and contract strategy.

The ideal candidate will lead complex RFQs and RFPs, develop sourcing strategies, negotiate commercial terms and general Terms & Conditions, and manage supplier performance and contract lifecycle activities across the business.

This is an opportunity to operate at a senior level, influencing procurement strategy while working cross-functionally with key stakeholders and suppliers in a highly regulated industrial environment.

THE ROLE:

• Lead CAPEX and strategic procurement activities across equipment, materials, services and operational requirements, developing sourcing strategies, managing complex RFQs/RFPs and driving competitive supplier selection.
• Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, general Terms & Conditions, service agreements and long-term contracts, while managing contract drafting, redlining, renewals, benchmarking, KPIs and supplier performance.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and QHSE to develop procurement and contract strategies, evaluate supplier proposals and ensure cost, quality, safety and delivery objectives are achieved.
• Provide oversight of procurement operations, supplier and contractor compliance, PO escalations and supply-chain issues, while acting as a senior procurement resource and Coupa P2P Super User with SAP exposure.

THE PERSON:

• 5+ years' experience as a Buyer, with demonstrated Level 2 Buyer capability, ideally within maintenance, engineering, industrial operations or a similar environment, with experience supporting CAPEX procurement.
• Strong strategic sourcing and negotiation experience, including complex RFQs/RFPs, supplier selection, commercial terms and general Terms & Conditions.
• Experienced in contract management and procurement systems, with Coupa P2P required and SAP preferred; strong knowledge of procurement processes, cost estimation, taxes and contract fundamentals.
• Strong stakeholder and supplier-management skills, able to operate independently across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and QHSE; CPM/ISM certification and warehouse/inventory experience are advantageous.
