Job summary

Unknown company in the chemicals sector seeks an experienced Buyer II in Clear Lake, TX to support sourcing of materials, equipment and services, coordinating with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and QHSE to ensure safe, high-quality procurement.

You will lead RFQs, supplier evaluations and contract lifecycle management, negotiate terms, manage POs and supplier performance, and use Coupa P2P and SAP MM to keep data accurate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a Buyer in industrial/operational settings.
• Proven experience negotiating terms and supplier agreements.
• Experience with Coupa P2P and SAP MM preferred.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading U.S. chemical operator as a Buyer II, supporting the safe, high-quality and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment and services across the business which offers the opportunity to take ownership of sourcing strategy, supplier performance, contract management and commercial negotiations.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Buyer and will play a key role in RFQs, competitive sourcing, vendor evaluation, contract lifecycle management and procurement operations, whilst ensuring compliance with company policies and site regulatory requirements.

THE ROLE

• Manage sourcing, RFQs, bid evaluations and supplier selection across assigned categories, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, delivery and compliance.
• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing and general Terms & Conditions, while supporting contract drafting, renewals, benchmarking, performance management and compliance.
• Oversee procurement activity, including purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery issues and escalations, while supporting Junior Buyers and internal requesters.
• Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, QHSE, Accounting and other stakeholders, using Coupa P2P and SAP to maintain accurate procurement and supplier data.

THE PERSON

• 5+ years' experience as a Buyer, with demonstrated Level 2 Buyer capability, ideally within industrial, maintenance, engineering or operational environments.
• Proven experience negotiating general Terms & Conditions, commercial terms and supplier agreements.
• Coupa P2P experience required, with SAP experience preferred; strong understanding of procurement processes, contracts, cost estimation and purchasing controls.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with warehouse or inventory experience considered a strong advantage.
