Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Pittsburgh (Cheswick) is seeking a Senior Buyer to execute complex procurement for high-value materials and services. You will negotiate terms, drive supplier performance, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role calls for 5–7 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting, strong contract knowledge, and proficiency with Oracle ERP, Excel, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in related field with 5–7 years purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Advanced working knowledge of contract law and business terms.
• Government procurement experience preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle ERP.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Executes end-to-end procurement activities for complex, high-value materials, components and services.
• Negotiates and administers complex purchase orders and agreements.
• Issues and administers POs, change orders and RFQs ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Drives supplier selection and conducts supplier site visits for capability and delivery.
• Manages supplier relationships with performance monitoring and corrective action.
• Collaborates with manufacturing, planning and engineering to meet program schedules.
• Drives cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

Your Responsibilities

The Senior Buyer is responsible for executing complex or technical procurement activities, including high-value purchases. This role negotiates pricing and contract terms, drives sourcing efforts and supplier performance to meet cost, quality and delivery objectives.

Salary

$69,200 - 92,200 per year

Your Challenge

• Executes end-to-end procurement activities for complex, high-value materials, components and services.
• Negotiates and administers complex purchase orders and agreements.
• Issues and administers purchase orders, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable Federal, state, and/or local regulations concerning the purchase or shipment of goods, materials or services.
• Drives supplier selection.
• Conducts supplier site visits and rates them as to production capability, performance and delivery.
• Manage supplier relationships, including performance monitoring (cost, quality, delivery) and corrective action implementation. Proactively addresses issues and escalates as needed.
• Resolves complex invoice discrepancies, receiving issues and supplier disputes.
• Maintains accurate and complete procurement records.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders including manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to ensure alignment with program schedules and requirements.
• Drives cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

What you bring

• Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field and 5-7 years of purchasing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Advanced working knowledge of contract law and business terms and conditions.
• Government procurement experience preferred.
• Ability to make decisions or suggestions based on rules or procedures.
• Problem solving skills in situations in which prior experience with similar problems has shown which choice is most appropriate, selecting from known alternatives.
• Experience with ERP Systems with Oracle ERP system preferred.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
• Organized, self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented; ability to multi-task.
• Have a good sense for priority setting and time management; ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
• Ability to work individually with minimal supervision or with a team.
• Build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and auditors
• Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
